As well as the many scheduled, repeating and one-off tasks Phelan Haulage carriers out on a regular basis, we’re also on hand to assist in abnormal or emergency situations. Another specialist task for Phelan Haulage last week to transport by HIAB, one of the Northwest Pass Expedition vessels to be kitted out for it’s up-and-coming journey.
More of the specialist transport of these tall telecoms masts and then installation using our fleet of HIAB vehicles, this time in Brighton and other areas of Southern England. These tasks were again completed by both our DAF XF510 Artic lorry along with Palfinger PK62000 EH crane; as well as our our Volvo FH540 truck combined with a Cormach 65000 E6 crane.
Our Volvo F540 HIAB truck was Scotland bound again this week, with a visit to the famous Murryfield in Edinburgh. Phelan Haulage transported and installed these Guinness mobile bar containers into the fan zone, ahead of the Rugby Autumn Internationals 2021. It is expected that the giants of southern hemisphere rugby – South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina – will be back touring Europe once again in November 2021.

Today Phelan Haulage completed another specialist haul of two fabulous Northumberland Hut shepherd style cabins from Hexham to North Yorkshire, using both of our HIAB trucks. You’ll find a photo gallery from the move here.
What is a HIAB driver? A HIAB driver is someone who loads and offloads goods from a vehicle that has a lorry-mounted crane attached. If your work is going to involve loading and offloading goods from a vehicle that has a lorry-mounted crane attached, you will need a HIAB training licence, also sometimes referred to as an ALLMI Certificate.
